Pre-heaters and re-heaters for HVAC and ventilation systems

Conservation of energy and the efficient use of natural resources are growing concerns, vital to many industries worldwide. In the construction industry, the trend is towards well-insulated low-energy buildings with sustainable energy consumption, resulting in increasingly dense building envelopes. Even though those succeed in reducing the loss of valuable heat and energy, they prevent natural moisture exchange with the outside air. HVAC and ventilation systems are therefore essential to avoid building structure damage. In order to conserve energy, heat exchangers are indispensable components of such systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.

Why use pre-heaters and re-heaters in heat exchangers?
Heat exchanges transfer thermal energy from exhaust air to intake air. While the exhaust air’s moisture saturation remains nearly constant, moisture can gather in the heat recovery unit. Consequently, if the system is exposed to low intake air temperatures, there is a chance for ice formation within the system. Air pre-heaters are needed when temperatures drop below 0°C to avoid system failure.
Heat exchanges with air pre-heaters can easily be operated at temperatures way below freezing, and unrestricted airflow with heat recovery is guaranteed during winter months. Additionally, air re-heaters can be integrated to further heat intake air and to increase energy efficiency.

PTC Heater Modules
Heater Modules are PTC air heaters with delta fins in compact enclosures with finger guard and connection cable for easy integration. Their delta-shaped fins guarantee great performance at minimum pressure drop. If needed, the heater can be fitted with built-in electric control to precisely regulate power input and to save even more energy. Available as DBK standard module or custom solutions are available on request.
