One matter of great concern to company proprietor Josef David was that the so-called PAMINA region (Southern Palatinate, the central Upper Rhine area and North Alsace) should grow together. He therefore established the Josef David Foundation to ensure the continued cultural development of this area after his death.
This non-profit-making foundation wishes to contribute towards a cultural interchange between German and French people in order to achieve better mutual understanding. According to the donor's wishes, the efforts of the foundation should be focussed on conserving and creating cultural values to the same extent as promoting social interests.
One specific focal point for the foundation's activities is to initiate and consolidate contacts between young people of both nationalities from kindergarten right through to university, learning the other language being a prerequisite for this.
